Wayne Brady was born in Orlando, Florida on June 2, 1972. He knew as a teen that he wanted to be in entertainment, but his first job wasn’t exactly what he had in mind. Brady was stick in a costume playing Tigger at Disney World. He also had a part of A Raisin in the Sun before trying his hand at improvisational comedy. He went to Las Vegas and then to Hollywood, and soon found more success on the screen than selling Wayne Brady tickets. Brady had TV parts on shows like I’ll Fly Away, In the Heat of the Night and Clarissa Explains It All.
His first movie was one made for TV with the Disney Channel’s “On Promised Land” in 1994. After that, he tried out and made it on the British TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway. When they decided to do a U.S. spinoff with Drew Carey as the host, Brady was among those chosen for the cast. His time there began in 1998, and he started gaining fame through his incredible improvisation. He also started guest starring on Carey’s show The Drew Carey Show.
As his popularity grew, he was offered his own show, The Wayne Brady Show, that ran from 2002 to 2004. He also appeared on more TV shows like American Dreams, The Young and the Restless and Reno 911. The popular Dave Chappelle Show featured a skit with Brady in 2004 that was one of the most popular bits to ever be on the show.
More recently, Brady has had parts in the shows How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock and Everybody Hates Chris. He has also lent his voice to two 2008 movies, Foodfight! and The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. Brady has now reached a new zenith with his current show in Las Vegas, Making It Up.
